Who will be deceived?

Matthew 24:4-5  And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying , I am Christ; and shall deceive many

Matthew 24:24  For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

Can a born again child of the living God be deceived?       Jesus said no!

Can a religious lost church person be deceived?                Yes!

If so, don’t you guys think it is better to preach the Gospel to the lost than to warn the lost against deception?

Heated debate welcome. 🙂

  1. agreed. i think the emphasis has been wrong in many cases and creating an unloving tone that does not rightly represent God’s heart. some discernment ministries are hindering rather than helping clarify this and become quite divisive as a result. preaching to the choir (true believers) about being deceived is not necessary-they have the Holy Spirit already. but the lost need the True Gospel of repentance toward God and faith in Jesus Christ the Son – The Way The Truth and The Life- exclusively. not the watered down slickly packaged emotional just believe and be saved version that is mass produced and saving no one. regret and remorse do not move us to be changed within–rather it is in the will that a man must be moved to repent and turn to Christ and reckon with God at that level. that is a supernatural move of the Holy Spirit to the Glory of God. 🙂 but also (as some teach) trying to go back under the law is not how we are saved and kept in the Beloved and some are creating frustration/even to thwart the true Gospel there in that admixture. itching ears are looking for ways to manufacture their own salvation and fall prey to deception because the law saves and keeps no one either! free from the law oh happy condition–free only in trusting the Savior’s Sinless Sacrifice to atone and save us!!! we know that the Gospel is the narrow way and there are few that find it. so the highways and byways are all over the place–in the irreligious worldly realm of course but most definitely in the religious realm too. many lost are seated even within good Bible believing churches and hear the Word faithfully preached but do not realize their danger because their faith is ultimately -actually- in their faith (themselves). have witnessed this very thing. at some point they are exposed i notice… Jesus reached out to both the lost worldly man and the lost religious man. may God’s Holy Spirit help me/us be bold but careful to rightly divide the Word of God at the same time……..Spirit led-not otherwise driven…..to share with those on the broad path who need to know where the narrow one is-regardless of where we find them..

  2. i definitely agree with what you said so perfectly well above andrea and yet i know as well that the 2 go hand in hand,…..believe and cultivate or keep a hard heartedness, stay in disbelief and allow your stubborn blindness to deceive you into an all out prison of bondage. Can you tell me your ambition, is it heaven or is it hell? //// Romans states that there is no excuse for not believing in the one who displays His handiwork in the firmament. I do think we need to deal sensitively and warmly with people of the world, carefully n prayerfully leading the horses to the living water with high hopes that they would be thirsty enough to drink and be replenished…made new in Christ and the promise of everlasting life* //// Lord that you would teach us to skillfully, truthfully go about your business in true Christian love, holy spirit led, amen. Keep us Lord and move on the hearts of all people everywhere in Jesus name. Continue to shape the desires of our hearts Lord and use us to bring increase to your Kingdom. Bring us to our knees that we would daily put self aside for your cause and for the sake of others,……teach us. Praise you Almighty Father! \o/

  3. *\o/*……..i just wanted to try that. //// I do kinda think andrea, that regret and remorse can lead to a brokenness that could bring about an – act of will – based upon a change of heart, don’t you?,…i mean if other things are in place, [ like having heard the good news ] in a persons life. //// Choose Life,…drink of the Living Water. He laid aside His Glory and humbled Himself so that we might Live in the Light of Truth rather than die in the darkness of deception,….again i say, Choose Life! *\o/* Blessings to all and to all who you come in contact with……..forever n ever…

  4. the Pure Gospel is the cure for mankinds sinfulness unto salvation and…..prevention of deception too! when pitted against the Truth all lies are exposed 😉 . we believe and know that everything that really exalts the Gospel of Christ as the SAVIOR come in the flesh and the LORD above all principalities and powers will prove itself of the Truth because it is only through the Spirit of God that we can claim that and then put that knowledge into practice in daily life-living it out in fear and trembling and the real joy that cannot be counterfeited. so it is sad to see people not staying in the Bible-who are not letting it be the rule of the faith once delivered to the saints-and who are not letting Scripture prove Scripture (meaning the whole counsel of God front to back of the book) who could become easy pickin’ for the devil. the Word hidden in our hearts and interpreted by the mind of God through His Spirit will keep us surrendered (reverently fearful and humbly grateful) for the wisdom and strength to stay on the Path to Heaven. The Lord’s Spirit of Promise is our seal and guarantee! ephesians 1:13-14. your prayer is mine too tony. thank you brother 🙂 . love to all in the Mighty Name of Jesus.

  5. yes tony…but the trouble is so many come up short by not allowing the Lord to bring them to repentance unto faith. it involves that godly sorrow that paul speaks of in 2 cor 7: 9 &10. read these things for yourself and see what paul says also in v 11 what that looks like. i know lots of regret-filled remorseful people who simply do not repent before the Lord. regret and remorse are in the realm of mind and emotions but repentance involves the will of a person. my will put on the altar-crucified actually-that His Will be done. false converts to the Gospel and false teaching will never produce these things. false teachers cannot counterfeit this lifestyle–it will rat on them somewhere! 😉

  6. You have handled scripture really well here – so I think it’s hard for those who would dispute to argue.

In the church there are two things that we must do –

Tell the truth of the Gospel to the lost

Protect the truth from those that would seek to twist it into something else.

Some would say these are jobs just for pastors/elders but I the great commission sets these before all believers. If we as believers are not out there sharing the truth with the lost all the world will here associated with the name of Jesus are the false prophets and worthless shepherds on television and the media. If within the church we are shy about protecting the truth – then anyone can sneak in with any variety of false gospels and start sharing it to those who are already part of the body or on their way to coming to Christ. I for one believe very strongly that this is why Christ allows the church to endure the tribulation- to purify her and drive out all the false “religious” people out of the church in order to purify his bride for the wedding feast. The cost will be too high for the “religious” people to hang around only those that truly have trusted in Christ to save them from the days to come will remain. Their endurance provided by Christ will be a testimony to the truth of the Gospel and an irresistible draw to those who are yet being called by him.

A quote I like to this effect:
“The pastor ought to have two voices: one, for gathering the sheep; and another, for warding off and driving away wolves and thieves. The Scripture supplies him with the means of doing both.” ― John Calvin

I would add on to what Calvin said – and those in the church should follow the example of solid pastors who are preaching the truth.

  7. well put justasheep. it is the understanding that i have too. if a pulpit is “soft” on the Gospel it will absolutely be soft on those who are working under the cloak of ministry while leading astray within the fold. to neglect in any way the Gospel in exchange for a man-centered approach, is to invite the tares into the wheatfield. we are so there. it will be persecution that will prove what is really wheat-has to. Jesus taught but warned often and then left things to manifest. (by their fruits you shall know them). He went in and cleansed the temple and overturned tables in the occasion that the Spirit moved Him to do in that instance (He did not do this regularly) otherwise He only spoke the Truth in their hearing and then walked away for the Truth to reckon within those hearers. no wonder He said in luke 18:8….nevertheless when the Son of man comes shall He find faith on the earth? the process of letting the Spirit of God reckon down into the conscience of each heart is by faith too. have left a ministry before because it became evident (before something manifested openly) that Glory was not going to God but to men. the Spirit knows His job and will not neglect to show those who are testing the spirits rightly according to Scripture. others can either wake up or sleep on…………

But there is the third and most important of all……the exercising of Love for each other. With that love there is also displayed a great degree of confidence in each other as a body that is One With Christ. And we, being One, have many members, with each of us , Gifts that ARE Different.
We all, according to the great commission, are not to do the work of a Pastor.

    Regarding this….
“Some would say these are jobs just for pastors/elders ”
Some say that, and it IS half correct. because, Pastors do have a Specific Office, a Specific Task, but in the case of Elders/Presbyters, there is not such a precise direct order.

We should all be set for the defense of the gospel in our Personal Witness to others and for the purpose and defense of our own heart and mind, but we are not All to Be Pastors/Shepherds TO The Church.

We MUST all Learn to Love and Trust the Spirit of God and His Wisdom and Calling of those whom He chooses to call as He Will, and Let no one think of themselves More than They Ought.

This is not an easy task for any of us. We all MUST Exercise a Perfect Love that casts out Fear………… a Fear that we Must Help the Holy Spirit do his Work.

Let faith have it’s perfect Work….Faith the Works BY Love.

We ALL Must Learn to Love and Trust God………. like Never Before.

you are right shorttribber. there is never an excuse not to Love.
and…this is a wonderful statement by justasheep: “The cost will be too high for the “religious” people to hang around only those that truly have trusted in Christ to save them from the days to come will remain. No legalism , law or bondage here , only a daily exhortation and warning in agape love that judgment must begin in the house of God and most sobering of all is , will we be the crowd of “overcomer’s ” ?

    It’s that simple 🙂

Revelation 2:7 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that >>>>>>>>overcometh<<<<<<<>>>>>overcometh<<<<<<< shall not be hurt of the second death.

Revelation 2:17 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that <<<<<<<<<overcometh<<<<<<< will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.

Revelation 2:26 And he that <<<<<<<<overcometh,<<<<<<< and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:

Revelation 3:5 He that<<<<<<<<<< overcometh,<<<<<<<< the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

Revelation 3:12 Him that <<<<<<<<<<overcometh<<<<<<<<< will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.

It's a narrow path and few are on it, narrower than what I at first anticipated and if this is how the Lord is separating the wheat from the chaff then praise His matchless name for that. I've been horrified the past few months at the betrayal and apostasy all around me and if one isn't grounded on the solid Rock, it can be disastrous.

Question was never on the issue of eternal salvation but of why would many on that day say "Lord , Lord,,,,did we not " ? Funny things is that it's not "Allah, Allah" but the Lord's Name that they did these wonderful works in.

Amen Shorttribber, " bout having "confidence in each other " and there again it get's down to{ spiritually } trusting another in these day's of great evil and apostasy.

Praise God He KNOWS His sheep and we are KNOWN of Him.Love it !

  13. Hi Arielbennissi

The Gospel is that the Word of God became flesh and lived among us. He was crucified and died for our sins and rose from the grave on the 3rd day. Whosoever trust and believe in Him will not perish, but have everlasting life. Whosoever calls on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ shall be saved.

Thank-you Vic for expressing the beauty and the simplicity that’s in Christ. So many want to add to that and we all know what that leads to right 🙂

” He was crucified and died for our sins and rose from the grave on the 3rd day”

    Amen and amen !

He is RISEN indeed and it’s His death and resurrection that has now reconciled us to Himself once we REPENT and become born-again. A new creature in Christ. I love that 🙂

For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:
    1 Peter 3:18

2 Corinthians 11:3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.

Christ’s requirement of us is ABSOLUTE PERFECTION which none of us is ever able to attain. This is why it is His righteousness that He imputes on us once we are born of the Spirit. Ye must be born-again. We are now PERFECT in Him . I love that 🙂

Sin separates us from a Holy God and this is why Christ BECAME SIN for us , He who knew NO sin. He ALONE is the ONLY One that has EVER lived a perfect life and has now become our substitute for our sins on the cross.

He loved us WHILE we were YET sinners. Wow!

Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Thank God for Jesus Christ. Now that is love. A love that would stretch both arms out on a cross for someone as disgusting as me? Wow!

I don’t really have the time to read the link you provided but will take a peek as time avails.

I’ve spent most of my time here on Vic’s page exposing the danger’s and deception’s that have infiltrated evangelical Christianity and have at times felt so discouraged and despondent only because it’s such a lonely path.

A path that doesn’t make one very popular yet find it so fascinating how being “translated into the Kingdom of Light ” can cause one from being the MOST popular to the least popular……… INSTANTLY ! I love that .

Thank-you for popping by. Stay awhile 🙂

    1 Peter 4

    4 Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;

2 That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.

3 For the time past of our life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries:

4 Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you:
