Continued unrest in Egypt – just as God told us through the prophet Isaiah.

Update 7/10/2013 – David Wilkinson – who posts here under the name “Eschologizer” wrote a great explanation of how many of the prophecies in Daniel tie together with what we are seeing in Egypt and Syria today. He also identifies some excellent points about how Isaiah 19 ties to Matthew 24. Go read it now:

Egypt, Isaiah 19….and the Antichrist.

Ever since the start of the “Arab Spring” in 2011 we’ve been speculating about whether the events we were witnessing was a fulfillment of the first few verses of Isaiah 19

An • oracle against Egypt: Look, the Lord rides on a swift cloud and is coming to Egypt. Egypt’s idols will tremble before Him, and Egypt’s heart will melt within it. 2 I will provoke Egypt against Egypt; each will fight against his brother and each against his friend, city against city, kingdom against kingdom. 3 Egypt’s spirit will be disturbed within it, and I will frustrate its plans. Then they will seek idols, ghosts, spirits of the dead, and spiritists. 4 I will deliver Egypt into the hands of harsh masters, and a strong king will rule it.  Isaiah 19:1-4 HCSB

We have seen throughout this past 2 years that no one has arisen in Egypt to calm the tension and restore a sense of a peaceful civil government (or on the other hand to completely crush all opposition).  There have been moments where it looked like the Muslim Brotherhood was firmly in control, rewriting the laws and diminishing the power of others. We said here – that if they accomplished that it was likely not a good candidate for fulfillment – but at the moment I am becoming more and more convinced that it is. I don’t want to hang my hat interpreting this to one piece of scripture – since scripture is the best interpreter for scripture but at the moment I don’t have the benefit of time to search the scriptures for related references- can I ask the group here to help out with that task and find confirmation or correction in other passages?

I know we won’t know for sure until the rest of the passage comes to pass – I’ll post that here for reference:

This is the declaration of the Lord God of • Hosts . 5 The waters of the sea will dry up, and the river will be parched and dry. 6 The channels will stink; they will dwindle, and Egypt’s canals will be parched. Reed and rush will die. 7 The reeds by the Nile, by the mouth of the river, and all the cultivated areas of the Nile will wither, blow away, and vanish. 8 Then the fishermen will mourn. All those who cast hooks into the Nile will lament, and those who spread nets on the water will shrivel up. 9 Those who work with flax will be dismayed; the combers and weavers will turn pale. 10 Egypt’s weavers will be dejected; all her wage earners will be demoralized. 11 The princes of Zoan are complete fools; Pharaoh’s wisest advisers give stupid advice! How can you say to Pharaoh, “I am one of the wise, a student of eastern kings”? 12 Where then are your wise men? Let them tell you and reveal what the Lord of Hosts has planned against Egypt. 13 The princes of Zoan have been fools; the princes of Memphis are deceived. Her tribal chieftains have led Egypt astray. 14 The Lord has mixed within her a spirit of confusion. The leaders have made Egypt stagger in all she does, as a drunkard staggers in his vomit. 15 No head or tail, palm or reed, will be able to do anything for Egypt. Egypt Will Know the Lord 16 On that day Egypt will be like women. She will tremble with fear because of the threatening hand of the Lord of Hosts when He raises it against her. 17 The land of Judah will terrify Egypt; whenever Judah is mentioned, Egypt will tremble because of what the Lord of Hosts has planned against it. 18 On that day five cities in the land of Egypt will speak the language of Canaan and swear loyalty to the Lord of Hosts. One of the cities will be called the City of the Sun. 19 On that day there will be an altar to the Lord in the center of the land of Egypt and a pillar to the Lord near her border. 20 It will be a sign and witness to the Lord of Hosts in the land of Egypt. When they cry out to the Lord because of their oppressors, He will send them a savior and leader, and he will rescue them. 21 The Lord will make Himself known to Egypt, and Egypt will know the Lord on that day. They will offer sacrifices and offerings; they will make vows to the Lord and fulfill them. 22 The Lord will strike Egypt, striking and healing. Then they will return to the Lord and He will hear their prayers and heal them. 23 On that day there will be a highway from Egypt to Assyria. Assyria will go to Egypt, Egypt to Assyria, and Egypt will worship with Assyria. 24 On that day Israel will form a triple alliance with Egypt and Assyria—a blessing within the land. 25 The Lord of Hosts will bless them, saying, “Egypt My people, Assyria My handiwork, and Israel My inheritance are blessed.”

If we are right and the time of fulfillment for this prophecy is now – the Nile (the lifeblood of Egypt) will soon dry up. Such a scenario is plausible under the Ethiopian plan to dam the Blue Nile and keep much of its flow for the benefit of its own people. The second half is exciting – and I would suspect comes much later at the time of the 2 witnesses, the 144,000 and the day when Israel will look up on the one it has pierced and mourn for Him as a first born son (see Zechariah 12:10).

  1. Beautiful written Mr Sheep. Thank-you.

I pray that Kirthril doesn’t mind but I copied/pasted what he posted @ FP.

    Morsi is Gone
by kirthril on Thu Jul 04, 2013 5:11 am

This happened way too fast. I was stunned when i heard the news. Man, the people of egypt don’t play. I did not expect his ouster this quickly. I knew that the egyptians knew that obama and co had duped them and set them up. I knew the egyptians were mad as all heck at obamas betrayal by handing them on a silver platter to the MB. But oh man…

I have a friend at work. A African from Ghana. We have spent the past week or so discussing egypt and the middle east and how it relates to bible prophecy. Most specifically to Isaiah 19, which brett so kindly posted above. He has given me a good deal of insight to the behavior of certain african nations as well as the egyptian people themselves. He knows that Ethiopia controls the Nile river and confirmed that it will most likely be a massive Dam/Hydroelectic plant in Ethiopia that causes the Nile to dry up, as described in Isaiah 19. Ethiopia has a tense relationship with Egypt (african vs arabs, christian/jewish nation vs secular muslim nation). Every time Ethiopia has tried to progress with work on the dam, the wealthy egyptians would use thier money to pay them off and work would stop. However, when Morsi came to power alongside the MB and tried to turn Egypt into a Islamist state, ethiopia began to cut ties again because it doesn’t want to deal with a Islamist regime.

If say Isaiah 19 happens soon, and egypt is put under a fierce ruler and is brutal to the point where egyptians fear him (which is what is prophesized), Ethiopia will proceed full steam ahead and build the dam hence cutting off the nile. This, my friend says would no doubt cause this evil dictator to attack ethiopia. Ethiopia is home to africa’s largest jewish population and therefore has close ties to Israel. If those jews come under attack, my friend says, Israel will go to war with egypt and kick that guy out of power.

This is exactly what Isaiah 19 describes. That the land of Judah, Israel, will bring terror to egypt (war). It says that God will send the egyptians a savior to deliver them from this leader and defend them. I believe that Savior/Defender is Israel attacking egypt, who first attacked ethiopia. After this the egyptians will fear and know the Lord of Israel and honor and worship him. And that at this time Egypt, syria and Israel will be as one, with a highway connecting the 3.

All this is what my friend says will happen based on what he knows about africa and the relations the different nations have there. Until he told me this i had never thought Ethiopia might play a role in all this (save for the building of the dam). So this is a new bit of insight on how things might play out regarding the future war between Israel/Egypt.

  2. Wars and rumors of wars, kingdom against kingdom, this world is in such a big turmoil, and no leader is turning back to God as He wishes. But praise Jesus we and anyone who hears and believes in the savior can know that all things are happening as prophesied and that Jesus for sure is coming back.

  3. Thanks for reposting Kirthril’s comments here – I hope he doesn’t mind, I think giving proper attribution of who it’s from and where is the right thing to do. I agree with him. It’s hard to guess at how all the pieces of prophecy fit together as it relates to Egypt, but this text and others seem to suggest that a) the instability will continue b) a fierce leader will come into power c) the AC will be in control of Egypt, Sudan (Cush), and Libya (Put) at some time in the future. d) there will be a great revival within Egypt at some point as well.

I find it amazing how God uses hardship to turn people’s heart to him – and force them to a place where they realize that there is hope in no other name than his son.

  7. Thank-you for the update and David’s powerful post Mr Sheep, I pray that many will wake up to the seriousness of the hour we’re in and to be able to stand as the flood gates of evil open up.

    David ,
    The most powerful part of of your post was this eye opener { and the understanding of the groaning in our spirit? }

“Interestingly enough, there is seems to be only one time in the whole Old Testament that sounds like “Nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom” in Matthew 24.

    Can you guess where???

    You guessed it! Isaiah 19:1-4!”

Okay that hit me like none other! Thank-you for that.

Just yesterday there were two separate accounts of believers having the same discussion {thousands of miles away and in the privacy of their homes} about how the Lord is preparing us to be killed for His sake if that’s His will. The most shocking was this morning that I received the daily word from Israel with the SAME message { see here*} Is this the groaning in the spirit ?

*You may be a little man, or woman, spending time alone with Yeshua (Jesus). And He may be preparing you in the quiet place, for a moment when you will be called to raise your voice in some public square or stadium, to fearlessly stand for His truth, even if it might cost your life. Remember Telemachus, whose voice changed the world because God’s word was behind it. Boldness is not bravado, but is rooted in deep conviction based on deep relationship and unswerving obedience. And it’s effects resound through history. So cultivate that intimate relationship with Him, and be ready to be launched into the arena of death-dealing humanity. Your lack of fear and your love for others will reveal the Yeshua whom you love, to many souls.

Isaiah 52:7-8 How beautiful upon the mountains Are the feet of him who brings good news, Who proclaims peace, Who brings glad tidings of good things, Who proclaims salvation, Who says to Zion, “Your God reigns!” Your watchmen shall lift up their voices, With their voices they shall sing together; For they shall see eye to eye When the Lord brings back Zion.

  8. Hisown,
the heart preparation you write about takes place here too. I often carry that awareness with me. And it sometimes clashes with our mundane activities, and makes me think twice about some of my interests and priorities…
(Unfortunately, I can’t say I’m totally consequent in my daily choices. Get side tracked sometimes/often. In the balance lies the question: is anything ‘earthly’ worth spending time on – in the light of things? Anybody recognize this?)

There is a purpose for God’s people (the two witnesses in the wider sense) in the last few years before Messiah returns. The Bride is meant to bring in her end time witness to the (glory of the) Groom.

Gavin Finley (Auzzie living in the U.S.) has written more than one article on the end time witness of the church.
What I have read so far, I must say I agree with (most of) what he writes.
This is one example of an (long, but interesting) article on the church in the end times:
    http://endtimepilgrim.org/nwo.htm

I can recommend you all to browse his home page. Haven’t read all articles through, so cannot vouch for everyting. But as far as I have read, it seems he is on the right track.
    “I think he’s got it!”

He has for instance written a personal testimony of how he came to discard pre-trib in favour of … the Biblical stance. 😉

  9. Quote from Dr Gavin Finley’s article (linked above):

“So why would the principalities and powers of this world want provocateurs to rise up and promote fear among Christians?
The answer is very simple. It is because fear is the opposite of faith. And it is the faith of the saints that will bring in the end-time witness. The angelic rulers over this evil world system know that the end-time witness of the saints at the 5th seal that will be their undoing. So they want to spook us and cause us to have a fearful loathing and rejection of Bible prophecy. But in actual fact the Bible is full of wonderful inspirations and encouragements about the end-time witness.”

  10. Ingela,

I like that you added the word ” MOST ” 😉

“What I have read so far, I must say I agree with (most of) what he writes.”

Let’s heed the unction of the Holy Spirit as He leads and guides us to all truth. He has promised that if we are ” other wise minded ” He would show us that. I love that!

  11. You’re quite right, my dear. 🙂

And when it comes to Dr Finley, there’s such a vast mass of written text – every article is a book in itself! (Just keeps going…) But (so far) – lots of meat.

We’re totally dependent upon our Helper to sieve through everything that rolls across our screens… And we also depend upon each others’ help, in the Body, as we notice different things.

  12. Thank you Vic and Rob for the mention. That is very kind of you! I had no idea the Egypt prophecy even existed or related to end times until Rob’s post. Thank you for bringing that to my attention!

And indeed, Hisown, I groan inwardly for the day when Jesus will be revealed. Even us who have been watching will likely be called to suffering for His name. I hope that the time is drawing near, but we can’t be too sure.

I just hope some more evidence piles up for our case so that we know with more certainty….only time will tell (with God’s will).
