Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15

I am very troubled by all of the attention the Bible mini-series has been getting among those that call themselves Christians in last couple weeks.

To quote Apprising.org – “Christian Apologist Chris Rosebrough offers, “The Jehovah’s Witnesses New World ‘Translation’ is more accurate than the History Channel’s miniseries, The Bible.” Why should we be surprised when we see that one of the executive producers is a Roman Catholic, and the top billing among theological advisors goes to the heretic Rick Warren?

I watch History Channel and am amazed at all the things that they report as absolute fact about how the universe started, 4.5 billions years now they say, and all the science of evolution etc.etc, makes me so sad to see that all of this is taught as fact, now they showed the monkey charts when I was in junior high many years ago.
    It has gotten so much worse today as man progresses into his stupidity. I did watch this one last night, on the rerun just to see if it, as many other things I have seen about the Bible take liberty with scripture. It did, mainly in not giving enough information, giving angels the big brass coverings with big ole swords killing people in Sodom, I for one don’t remember that one, the angel brass covering sword part, swiping people in half. We as believers have to read our bibles over and over with diligence in order to counter some of these things that are shown.
    I think it depends on the individual, but would not recommend it to new believers unless they watched it with someone founded on the truth of what goes on. However, again the way most churches deal with the bible, this does not surprise me. As far as I am concerned there is a great lack of teaching and discipleship going on in most churches I have been in.
    The majority of the American church(s) is into the social club it seems to me.
    And I no longer try to attend them around here, vexes my soul to the nth degree.
    Anyway each individual believer has to take this and decide if they watch so they know what it presents so they can counter it, if the time comes. However like I said would not recommend it based on the one episode I watched so far.

    And the other thing is since many years ago, my husband and I went to some movie, forget now what it was, except we did go see the Obama 2016 one in the afternoon, I will not go into any of them and support the filth that is spewed out of Hollywood and the TV shows nowadays.

    I do feel it should be discussed here for anyone who comes along so they can see the stand that this blogsite takes against such things as these

    “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened.     but the scripture rightly convicts men of their sin – unless they are under God’s wrath and have exchanged the truth for a lie.

    and Peter says it best (as he was carried along by the Holy Spirit) here:

    Therefore, beloved, since you are waiting for these, be diligent to be found by him without spot or blemish, and at peace. And count the patience of our Lord as salvation, just as our beloved brother Paul also wrote to you according to the wisdom given him, as he does in all his letters when he speaks in them of these matters. There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures. You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, take care that you are not carried away with the error of lawless people and lose your own stability. But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.

    Am I to encourage a brother or sister who has preached some other Gospel other than Christ crucified as a necessary and fully sufficient payment for my sins? Am I to agree with someone who preaches works as a mean to secure salvation or calls what God calls sin, and the Son wilingly went to a cross to pay for no sin?

    Empatically no- Paul writes it so clearly how the attitude we are to have toward those that would distort the Gospel –
    As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be accursed. (Galations 1:9).

    So no- knowledge is not what saves us – but Grace alone. How though could we have faith in something or someone we deny or distort into our own idolatrous image. I will contend for the Gospel, will you?

  5. i love contending for the gospel. i love talking to people about Jesus. If this movie “the Bible” brings me opportunities to talk about Christ, then i will promote it and encourage others to watch it. I think the purpose of the movie is to create a thirst and hunger for the scriptures to find out more about the stories they just saw and of course bring them to Jesus. God can use this movie and all its imperfections just as easily as He uses me and all my imperfections.

  7. thanks justasheep for this timely post. do i hope people will check out the Bible Itself because some interest was created in airing this movie? yes. but do i think it really will? no. confusing and deceptive is it’s potential from what i have seen thus far. i think it will end up just more of the man-centered approach to the Gospel (would we surprised?) that will take Glory from the Lord. hell loves anything that will takes Glory away from the Son of God………

    The mark of a ” deceived Christian ” is being tossed to and fro and carried away with every WIND of DOCTRINE.

    Eph 4:14 That we [henceforth] be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, [and] cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

    Spiritual tumble weeds- those being carried away by STRANGE DOCTRINES.

    Hbr 13:9 Be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines. For [it is] a good thing that the heart be established with grace; not with meats, which have not profited them that have been occupied therein.

    Never enduring SOUND DOCTRINE.

    2Ti 4:3 — For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

    Mar 13:22 For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if [it were] possible, even the elect.

    1Jo 2:26 These [things] have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you.

    Seduction under a false spirit ? Are we TOLERATING this false spirit ? Committing spiritual fornication?

    A church doing much works, charity, service, faith, patience = FALSE covering ?

    Jezebel = FASLE DOCTRINE creeping into the household of faith 😦

    2Cr 11:4 For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or [if] ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with [him].

    I know thy works, and charity, and service, and faith, and thy patience, and thy works; and the last [to be] more than the first.Rev 2: 2.

    SOUND DOCTRINE IS ( the whole chapter ) Titus chapter 2 —-Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;

    These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.

  9. Today it seems people in general put a lot of stock in the History Channel………i think i’ll just keep my “Stock” in the “Rock”.
    Everything else is just “Sinking Sand”.

  12. Praise God your’e back. I missed ya Shorty and am excited to see that many are coming to see the error of the (traditional interpretation) of the covenant with many as the Holy Spirit calls us to come to Christ ALONE for understanding and teaching. I love that:)

    Back in 2008 I started to question some inconsistencies that when I tried to voice these I was horrified by the reactions from those around me as I ( tried ) to question the “Scoflied influence ” in the almost every ” commentary I had read on this passage of scripture. Then in 2010 our precious Nonymouse (from FP) asked Holly a question that nagged me as it rang true to what the Holy Spirit was personally showing me. I only found your posts later in 2011 and I was like YEAH if I ever wanted a dad…Shorty is it 🙂

    There seems to be a overwhelming desire in the body of Christ to dig deeper into Daniel 9 and lay aside any pre-conceived thoughts and ideologies , seeking the Lord to reveal that to us by His precious Holy Spirit.

    Christ Jesus is the mediator of the new covenant.

    And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than [that of] Abel. Heb 12 :24

    This [is] the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them; Heb 10:16

    We are the Temple – Naos- 1 Peter 2 : 5 –

    Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

    If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which [temple] ye are 1 Cor 3 : 17

    What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost [which is] in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 1 Cor 6: 19

    In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: Eph 2 : 21

    Does the 42 month tribulation period kick off when Jerusalem is surrounded. The Jews flee – this ? – http://www.presstv.ir/detail/157971.html ( Scripture confirmation in Dec ‘ 07 ? – ) I will send the – Mark 13 : 14 , Luke 21 : 20 appointed- time scripture confirmations e-mail as requested.

    Satan inhabits the man of sin- ( after he is cast out – once and for all – ) ( he still has access to the throne- accusing us daily )- And the LORD said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it. -Job 1

    Till no more place found for him- see his arrogance – in Isaiah 14 : For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: ( he is sitting on the throne in the apostate church already and has deceived them as he did when he caused the sons of God to rebel against the Lord.)

    There will be the the trampling of Jerusalem for 42 months.

    The protection of the Jews in the desert from Satan for 1260 days.

    The beast ruling / making war with the saints for the 42 month period.

    Christ’s second VISIBLE return and the setting up of His 1000 yr earthy reign.

    Satan bound for that period. Let loose for a little while to test the nations once again. –

    And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,

    Judgment – And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.

    And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

    New heaven and new earth.- And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.

    Eternity.

    No preterist / amillennialism / postmillennialism view here 🙂
