Iran and Saudis Acting Out Ancient Messiah Prophecy?

I don’t know anything about this prophecy, but would like your thoughts. Arutz Sheva reports the following:

Iran and Saudis Acting Out Ancient Messiah Prophecy?

Jews familiar with an ancient compilation of Aggadic exegesis called Yalkut Shimoni noticed in recent weeks that current tension between Iran and Saudi Arabia matches a prophecy it contains regarding the year in which the Messiah – the King who redeems Israel and the world – is to appear.

In particular, the recently revealed Iranian plot to assassinate Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to the U.S. and subsequent reports that the Arab nations are pressuring the West to attack Iran, appear to fit the sequence of events predicted in the Yalkut Shimoni.
In to the part of the book dealing with the Book of Isaiah, the following passage appears:

“Rabbi Yitzchak said: ‘In the year in which the Messiah-King appears, all the nations of the world are provoking each other. The King of Persia provokes an Arab king and the Arab king turns to Aram for advice. And the King of Persia goes back and destroys the entire world. And all the nations of the world are in panic and distress and they fall upon their faces and are seized with pains like those of a woman giving birth, and Israel are in panic and distress and asking ‘where shall we go? Where shall we go?,’ and He says to them ‘my sons, do not fear; all that I have done, I have done only for you. Why are you afraid? Do not fear, your time of redemption has come, and the final redemption is not like the first redemption, because the first redemption was followed by sorrow and servitude under other kingdoms, but the final redemption is not followed by sorrow and servitude under other kingdoms.”
Persia is currently known as Iran, and an Arab king – or the Arab king – can be reasonably understood, in modern eyes, as referring to the king of [Saudi] Arabia, the Arab homeland.

This passage is relatively well-known and oft-quoted, and some modern versions of it substitute “Edom” for “Aram.” Ancient Jewish references to “Edom” are nowadays generally seen as referring to Europe or the West. “Aram” refers to a part of ancient Mesopotamia, roughly congruent to the northern part of modern Iraq and eastern Syria. The instability in precisely this area is reportedly what most concerns the Saudis, as a U.S. pullout from Iraq looms and Syria’s pro-Iranian regime teeters.
The prophecy bodes ill for much of the world, which, if Rabbi Yitzchak’s quote is to be taken literally, is to be destroyed by Iran before the Messiah steps in.

The identity of the compiler of Yalkut Shimoni is not known with certainty but a copy of it is known to have existed 700 years ago, in 1310 CE. The works it quotes are even older, and go back to early Talmudic times.

  1. Sounds like the words of a false prophet. Even though he may be a false prophet – if the enemy knows who is man is, and if he’s here you can bet he does, what would stop him from influencing others among his servants to fulfill something he whispered in someone’s ear eons ago?

That’s how God is different though – the Words he has given us about the future are inevitable, unavoidable and unchangeable. He doesn’t need to use his servants to bring out what he has told us will happen – the very rocks and trees cry out for his glory, and the so many of the prophecies that are fulfilled are fulfilled by his enemies even though they hate him – they cannot resist his purposes.

  2. Yes, I agree.

I should have pointed out in the post that I do not see this as a valid prophecy from the Lord. I just find the views of the Jewish Rabbi’s concerning the end times interesting. They are expecting their Messiah very soon. I am sure that the Lord must be working in their hearts to prepare them for the time of Jacob’s trouble. We have the complete Bible, they have their Torah and other writings. In their blind state they still believe in their coming Messiah, but soon the Lord will open their eyes.

  3. Greetings, I feel that post bible prophets are few and far between but what this man may have predicted cannot be totally disregarded. The correlation with the countries mentioned is very real concerning destruction. Could it be militarily, financially, or maybe even spiritually ? I do not know but it sure seems that anything is possible with what is going on right now. The interesting thing to me is the redemption references and how he, in my opinion, basically said that the first redemption was not what the people were expecting. Of course, after having Him tortured and crucified, sorrow and despair followed. The second redemption he talks about is the Messiah they were praying for over two thousand years ago and He is the same as the first one.

  4. I agree too guys, but what concerns me is that how this lines up to the scriptures the Lord has been affirming on the raising up of the ” Medes” as well as how they will be the Lord’s threshing tool to bring about His judgment on the nations that have carved up Israel. Also I love how Mr B reiterates that no where in scripture do the Jews ” accept” the ( false messiah) how awesome is that!

The AC is a man of war and if we are in the appointed time, according to Isaiah 14 he causes massive ” chaos”.

Tevye at FP shared this link 🙂

  5. Thanks Hisown, and Lafreak just in case you miss it, I did comment on the previous post.

Thanks to all here for prayers for my daughter and new granddaughter, Jessica and Abby.

They are still not completely out of danger, and we will keep praying for all of this. So much happening in the world, it is tough for all of us when life throws in a dagger of something emergent. Thanks again

  6. Interesting about what this man says, and for sure we are watching all of these areas, as we know the world seems to be falling apart right now in many ways. And Jesus did say wars and rumors of wars, kingdom against kingdom, and nations against nations.

Luk 21:7 And they asked him, saying, Master, but when shall these things be? and what sign will there be when these things shall come to pass?
Luk 21:8 And he said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them.
Luk 21:9 But when ye shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified: for these things must first come to pass; but the end is not by and by.
Luk 21:10 Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom:
Luk 21:11 And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.

and then Jesus said to his disciples there with Him:

Luk 21:12 But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name’s sake.
Luk 21:13 And it shall turn to you for a testimony.
Luk 21:14 Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall answer:
Luk 21:15 For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.
Luk 21:16 And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death.
Luk 21:17 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake.

    see but before all these

we know from church history that all of the disciples did indeed suffer, well sorry from the bible itself too we know this
so first part of prophecy Jesus himself spoke is done

now we see the rest, at least this is what I am thinking

  7. Praying for your family Roma – that He supports you and gives your family what they need to make it through, and for that new little one and her mom.

Thank you for reposting the article too Hisown. I’d seen that headline but hadn’t clicked it yet. Interesting that Milstein refers to the Gog Magog prophecy.

  8. justasheep I also need you to know how much we love and appreciate you here , not only for the time you put into posting but your insight is much needed.I can’t help but feel the tangible excitement of what we are witnessing globally,, ominous yes but oh so exciting.

Many in the body are going through intense personal trials and tribulations that indicate to me just where we are at in the prophetic time-line.For the life of me I could not understand the wave of betrayal happening all around me and have tried to come to grips with that but it is so encouraging to come across a word or a quote that only solidifies and confirms just what the Holy Spirit has shown you-personally. Such one was from Pastor Brian yesterday.

“In reality, the more people reject His Word, and fight against it, the more they fulfill it”

God knows who are His own and promised to recompense tribulation to those that trouble them… mind can’t seem to fathom the evil that we will witness once the 42 months start. We have only been in preparation for a time such as this amen!

Praying for more understanding on the soon coming devastating blow.

  9. What appears to be missing from this “prophecy” is repentance, returning to the L-RD. Disobedience brings consequences, for all of us not just Israel, and when one reads the OT we read that our loving Father G-D says – “if” you will return to Me, THEN….

I agree this “prophecy” is suspect.

  10. Amen ali, it’s not the ” prophecy” that causes me concern as we know this is extra biblical and heresy. It is the fact that the Lord has been preparing us for the raising up of the spirit of the Medes ( since 2003) and the devastating blow that will change the world in one hour.Back in 2006 when this was discussed on FP not many realized the enormity of what the Lord was preparing us for…now it is headline-news.

I do disagree with the timing of this clip as I humbly believe Iran is ready .

  11. Hisown – thank for the encouragement. I’m very blessed to have this little group to share my observations of the news with and to ask questions of as I feel like I’m still such a neophyte in handling God’s word. It’s hard sometimes when you notice something and if you mention it around family or friend they look at you like you have three heads or something.

My two cents on Iran- I agree with Reza Khalili – my hunch is that they’ve got at least one nuclear weapon already, they are waiting for the most opportune moment to strike, or some other sign from their awaited Al Mahdi.

@Ali – false prophets abound, and many false prophecies will be brought forward in an effort to deceive many. Some false prophecies may even appear as if they are being fulfilled, but I contend it is not because the enemy has had any foreknowledge – but because:

    a) he made his prophecy similar enough to God’s word which he knew would be fulfilled (but with his own lies inserted) that the substance of the prophecy is fulfilled, even if the reasons for it are false or

    b) because he can manipulate the actions of wicked men in concert around the world, he can make things happen that would appear from the outside observer as if he had foreknowledge – but its really more like if I owned a logging company and made a prediction in February that a forest would be gone – once I set my employees to work on it, by the time you come back to check on the forest in June it IS gone. Still, I didn’t have foreknowledge, but a team of men who are in my service to accomplish my will.
