Geological time bomb

Comment by Wickus:

This is one of those “wait and see” scenarios. If the theory on the landslide is correct, it will cause the most devastating natural disasters in modern history. The following words of Jesus comes to mind:

Luk 21:25-26  And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.

Red Alert Issued For El Hierro Volcanic Region in Canary Islands; Possible Tsunami Threat To U.S. East Coast.

The IGN, Spain’s USGS equivalent, has issued a Red Alert warning for the El Hierro volcanic region in the Canary Islands amid thousands of earthquake swarms and volcanic activity which started in early August:

SPAIN’S Instituto Geográfico Nacional (IGN) confirmed on Tuesday that an underwater eruption has occurred five kilometres off the southern coastline of El Hierro, the smallest of the Canary Islands.

A Red Alert has since been issued by local authorities for the town.

A notice posted on the Emergencia El Hierro website on Tuesday evening stated: “Phase pre-eruptive. It involves the initiation of a preventive evacuation. Make yourself available to the authorities.”

For those not familiar with the volcano, it is situated off the northwest coast of Africa in the Canary Islands, an autonomous Spanish archipelago. While there is no danger to the United States from volcanic eruptions, it has been long theorized by researchers that a large enough eruption and earthquake may be capable of splitting a neighboring volcano, La Palma, in two, which would subsequently cause a land slide on a scale unprecedented in recorded human history. The result would be a massive Mega-Tsunami that would cross the Atlantic ocean, slamming into the Eastern cost of the United States, the Caribbean islands and parts of South America.

  1. Volcano experts in Spain’s Canary Islands say the threat of an eruption on Hierro island has eased after pressure in the area was reduced following an undersea event this week.

A spokesman for a vulcanology institute, David Calvo, told Spanish National Radio on Thursday that while authorities remain vigilant, there was no cause for alarm.

About 600 residents of La Restinga coastal town were evacuated Tuesday following the off-coast eruption.

A geographic institute said it was studying two large sea stains that were caused by the eruption coming through two openings. It said the eased pressure meant further measures affecting the island’s 11,000 inhabitants were unlikely.

Hierro, one of seven Canary Islands, has been on alert in recent weeks for fear of an eruption.

Interesting and worthwhile hearing BUT it does in its way reveal the apparent foolishness or concern to have ever asked for the date of a California earthquake. Or does it ?
We live in a world with disaster potentially happening around us any day.
Nevertheless if you lived on the these Islands as some people do would you as a Christian ask God for wisdom about staying and leaving? I am sure you would consult the scientists but should you consult God with such a question? I probably would. I am already considering leaving where I live should they ever pass a law approving homosexual marriage. I do not see the point of criticizing Lot for living in Sodom if I were to find myself in a modern day Sodom and not leave. ( Unless God said stay and be a preacher of His)

  4. Adamantine, as I have said in the other post, I believe there is misunderstanding between the prophetic word and guidance. To ask God for guidance is noble and must be done in every walk of live. I say it, but I don’t do it myself. I wish I was a super Christian.

I have heard someone said once:
To speak the word of God, the written Bible, is to prophecy. There is too much mysticism in the modern understanding of prophecy.”

    And he may be correct…
