My Baptism:
One sunny October day years ago I stood at the edge of a lake waiting to be immersed by a pastor I did not know who asked me to tell the crowd what God was doing in my life.
I responded that God was not really doing anything in my life but that I had waited for such an opportunity as this to be baptized.
Wrong Answer. ( Later I learned.)
That night at home away from home attending college I called and told my parents of my baptism.
Wrong Answer.
My parents claimed I had been baptized as an infant quite satisfactorily,thank you very much.
(Besides they argued why would you risk your career running around with fanatical Christians ?)
That night in tears and prayer I told God that while I would not give up my career plans for anyone else for Him I would do so.
Correct Answer
That night I had a dream in which God (apparently) spoke and told me I would have my career choice because He wanted it so and He would see to it.
The next Sunday in a small group I told the dream to the pastor who had baptized me.
Wrong Answer.
I later learned that he thought I must be an immature Christian thinking I had heard from God.
My career choice was confirmed and now fast forward many years to 2007 when I heard about the ENPI. I was impressed.
In a small group of prayer partners we prayed for insight and wisdom and in a tale I have told elsewhere I saw Gold at 666.00 on July 14,2007 and felt it was an answer. Among other interpretations I put to it I considered that gold would soar while the dollar would some day be subsumed by a new world or European currency. Gold did triple in price since that date.
In 2008 while quite concerned about the end times I prayed for insight about the scientifically expected upcoming earthquake on the west coast of the US. The tale is told elsewhere on this blog. It is the weakest of all these three possible leading’s from God.
I have shared this with the readers of this blog not because I am sure of any fulfillment but rather because in the outlandish chance it did occur you would not give credence to it if it did happen unless you had heard of it first.
If this lacks fulfillment it will be the end of my attempt to speak to the world in such an individual way at least as initiated by me.
My point is this:
I believe God answers prayer today and speaks to people. I think this has happened to me and others in my life who I know.
I also think all Christians are quite fallible and we must be very careful in our interpretations. I also assume all Christians are mature enough and required by God to think for themselves.
My question to the reader:
DO YOU THINK GOD SPEAKS TO PEOPLE TODAY ?
HAVE YOU ASKED FOR INSIGHT FROM GOD TO ADDRESS THE MOMENTOUS BUT QUESTIONABLE THINGS WE SPEAK OF ON THIS SITE ?
IF NOT WHY NOT ?
DOES GOD EVER SPEAK TO YOU ?
SHOULD YOU BE ASKING GOD TO SPEAK TO YOU ? ( IN THE MANNER OF GOD’S CHOOSING AND TIMING )
IF NOT WHY NOT ?
IS IT POSSIBLE YOU HAVE NOT BECAUSE YOU ASK NOT ?
IT IS NOT A SIN TO BE WRONG IN PUTTING FORWARD WHAT ONE PONDERS THEY MAY HAVE HEARD FROM GOD EVEN IF THEY PROVE WRONG.
How is this different from others who do bring themselves into a position deserving possible severe criticism ?
1) We have never asked for donations. We do not want donations.
2) There are no diffuse unclear aspects to any of this.The “prophecy” will easily be seen as incorrect unless it were front page news.
3) No one is asking anyone to do anything
4) Almost to the point of nausea I have stated this is highly questionable
5) There is no fame to be gained for anyone personally
6) There is no effect on scripture in anyway. It does not affect any other interpretation of scripture.
7) When proven incorrect there will not be another attempt by me to ask God for such guidance for others.
8) There! I am done speaking to this issue and will not speak of it again until I say it was wrong on November, 12,2011.

UNSEALED PROPHECY

Today….we prohecy in part
Eph 4:1 I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,

3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

6 One God and Father of all, who [is] above all, and through all, and in you all.
7 But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.

9 (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?
10 He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)

When this happens and this prophecy is fulfilled……….then……..We will walk in and understand COMPLETELY and in FULL MEASURE “the SPIRIT of PROPHECY”.

Do you think God speaks to people today: Very much so – but they have to want to hear Him speak.
Have you asked for insight……: It depends. For the most part I really don’t care *that* much about end times prophecy. Since I was a child I was raised that we were living in THE END TMES and that did a lot of harm to me; because I felt “well what does it matter to get married; what does it matter to have children; etc…. if Jesus is going to be coming back any second now” – it lead to a LOT of paralysis in my life. Paralysis that God is still healing me of. (and no I don’t mean physical paralysis). I think its important to have a pulse on what is being said and thought but I don’t immerse into any of the data you present. If you present something that I believe is false or misguided then I toss into the proverbial trashbin.
Does God speak to you: I don’t think you meant to have the “not” in the question. Yes, God speaks to me when I ask Him a question (sometimes) but this came after a concerted effort on my part to _want_ to hear Him speak.

I agree. End time thinking can lead to a psychological paralysis as can expecting to hear from God on everything.
I have expressed before my displeasure at the possibility the ENPI theory of Herb Peters proves incorrect. Even his daughter Holly has largely and quietly distanced herself from it all. I try to be correct in balance about it but do not always get it correct. I did not have to share about my inkling of an upcoming earthquake but have tried to share it in a balanced approach. Is that even possible?
I know of few IF ANY things where God acted and others did not to some degree find fault.

I have had alot of God encounters. Maybe when I am more familiar with this site, I will share them. Yes, God does speak to me and has for a very long time. Some of what he has told me has actually happened. It was in having this occur that I actually discovered God’s voice. Because we are with the Spirit, I believe we are open to whatever gift God gives.

thank you adamantine for this post. yes the Lord speaks today. we have His Eternal Word and His Spirit’s abiding Presence (in the born-again believer to be clear) and we walk with Him and we talk with Him-to quote the old song-yes He speaks and discernment is a promised gift-to those with the faith to ask. every believer has a measure of faith but we need the Spirit’s repeated filling-the once for all time indwelling Presence of the Spirit cannot be taken from the believer-but we can mar our fellowship with Him by not believing and asking for His very Present Word to speak to our everyday concerns and questions-this needs continual renewal as per romans 12:1,2. it is a matter of faith-we need to be asking for more right? i need more and more faith for sure-and it is a matter of the individual heart of faith to go to it’s Good and Faithful Father for all the issues of life-including as even the disciples asked in acts 1:6 about when God would restore again the kingdom and He said it was not for us to know what God appoints as under His Own business v.7-this is a matter of simple trust in His Plan (much like any child would ask questions of their parents and parents can have discretion about what when or how to answer)—but in close fellowship with Jesus-this is what it means to be led by the Spirit-we can discern the times and we can know of His warnings because we asked for wisdom as in james 1:5. i do not see that that excludes any matter or concern-endtimes or not. i am an individual heart that is subject to my Lord-we all are who know Him. He wants me to ask-to ask of Him anything in His Name and how He grants that is His business and He does not let me feel wrong for asking-unlike people-and i am to believe He will answer with yes-no-or wait-His choice. the Spirit does not withhold what God intends that we should know–but how many really determine with faith to ask? this is the very important question and exploring this is personal as you have found out adamantine-that some things are just simply to be kept between us and Him and when or if it is something for edification of the whole body He will grant the wisdom-timing-peace-and boldness to share it abroad. a good example is moses-God gave His Word to israel (through moses) but it was with moses that God shared His Ways. he was in that elevated relationship with God because he chose to know God that way but was also appointed for special duty. israel was down at the bottom of the mountain while moses was up at the top with the Lord getting special insight. it does not mean moses was anything above his fellows-God is no respecter of persons-but his relationship with God sure was. israel could discern His Plan but moses could discern His Method. we should want a walk like moses had….teach me Your Ways oh Lord and i will Walk in Your Truth….this is what our walk should be growing to—just a closer walk with Thee-Thou wilt show me the path of life-ps 16:11…surely in ever darker times God will use any and all of us who are asking to know what is His intention-personal and beyond.

I too like Susan have heard G-D speaking; in my heart, through His Word, through dreams – He is my Father. Once His voice was so loud, I thought it was audible, yet the person with me heard nothing.
Again like Susan, when I am more comfortable with this site, perhaps I will share more.
For now, what I am sensing in my spirit is the groaning of His creation – as scripture tells us, ‘like a woman in labor’ – Groaning; weighed down by the sins of mankind – something is about to happen – we MUST be about our Father’s business.
GET READY AND BE PREPARED..!!..

First of all, thank you for your humble honesty.
I have experienced God speaking to me soo many times through His Word.
In many specific situations just the right Word has ‘come alive’ to me, and
spoken deep in my innermost, and I have felt the Holy Spirit’s confirmation as well.
Though I do beleive God can speak to us very specifically and personally, I am also a little bit wary of seeking ‘extrabiblical revelation’. And this is also something that always must be tried and tested against the whole Counsel of God’s Word.
So, let us first of all listen to Him in His Word, and be true to what He shows us.
Then, when and if we need to know specific instructions, as time gets harder,
I am sure our Loving father will let us know.

Yes, God does speak. We serve a living God, don’t we?
He speaks through His Word, the Bible. He speaks through circumstances. He speaks through other people (Not to be confused by “Thus sayeth the Lord” soothsaying). He even speaks through little Jack Russel dogs as Tony so often told us. He spoke to Solomon while he was looking at an ant. But when He speaks, you KNOW it is the Lord. It bursts out of your spirit. And there is no way that anyone will convince you that you did not hear from the Lord. I admit there are times when I think I have heard Him but am not convinced. In those cases you pray to get the answer.
God uses whatever He wish to speak to us. Heck, I got saved by reading a book on astronomy!
So yes, my God does speak to me. But one must be careful not to go and look for special words at suspicious places from Him. Stay away from the soothsayers saying “Thus sayeth the Lord”. And test the spirits.

A major point I would also add is we are talking about the RETURN OF CHRIST. If there was ever a time when one would expect they should almost must seek God specifically on such a thing would be now.
If someone prays and feels they have been specifically told by God 11/11/11 means nothing and especially nothing as it relates to an earthquake step forward and say so. How many times must I say I would not place bets on this either. I am not asking anyone to do anything. This has nearly become an academic exercise to speak about God and His guidance.
They also may simply decide it is not of any consequence and decide there is no reason to even pray about it.
What I do not agree with is a dismissal of someones “possible prophetic word” because they are sure God does not speak today. Good luck on that. I never expected most of the places and ways it seems God may have spoken to me and family over the years. I have heard pastors such as MacArthur and Swindoll denigrate such things and it has been an eye opener to realize that good men and women of God are limited sometimes as well.
If someone says they only hear from God from the scripture I say that is fine. Also remember God chose to speak to people in the Bible in dreams, visions etc. I see no reason to say those days are over. I agree we are not adding to the cannonical scripture however.
