Pray for Steve Jobs

Frail: Steve Jobs is helped into a car by a friend outside his home in California

The fiercely private CEO has said relatively little about his health problems, although he did acknowledge his bout with cancer during a commencement speech at Stanford University, saying: ‘No one wants to die. And yet death is the destination we all share. No one has ever escaped it.’

Comment by Adamantine:

I guess both Wickus and I have decided to go a little far afield today for articles of interest. This one simply shows Steve Jobs making a comment about something which no knowledgeable christian would make.

We know Enoch “escaped” death and that untold numbers will someday with the rapture.

Jesus did not escape it but he overcame it.

I would not wish to rebuke Steve Jobs without praying for him today. If you are reading this article it is at least in part because of the personal computer revolution that he helped start.

  1. Rom 11:28 As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the fathers’ sakes.
Rom 11:29 For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.
Rom 11:30 For as ye in times past have not believed God, yet have now obtained mercy through their unbelief:
Rom 11:31 Even so have these also now not believed, that through your mercy they also may obtain mercy.
Rom 11:32 For God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all.
Rom 11:33 O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!
Rom 11:34 For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counsellor?
Rom 11:35 Or who hath first given to him, and it shall be recompensed unto him again?
Rom 11:36 For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.

Paul was speaking to the Gentile christian church here in Rome, but I think we can apply some of it to the situation of nonbellievers today everywhere. We, as the church of believers, are to show mercy. My prayer is that he fully grasp who Jesus is now, and then have the peace of God that transcends understanding. Father, we know you love Steve Jobs, and it is your will for all men to be saved.

We approach your throne of grace to receive mercy in our time of need.

Heb 4:14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.
Heb 4:15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
Heb 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

I beseech you Jesus, send, by some miraculous way some true believers, to share the good news of your salvation to this man while there is time. I know sometimes, people hear for many years, then suddenly they accept and by the power of the Holy Spirit are reborn into your kingdom. That is my prayer for Steve Jobs, as well as every soul on earth that has not yet entered into your grace and salvation in Jesus Christ our Lord.

  2. There are a multitude of internet sources that report that while Jobs is sick, this picture of him is a fraud.

If I’m Steve Jobs, I’m not gonna pose for a picture and let some dude have two hands on me as if he was holding me up. Doesn’t jive with the natural human inclination of legacy preservation.

At any rate, I’m praying he trusts in Christ for redemption.

  3. Comment by Adamantine:
Interesting that it may be a fraud. The ability for someone to potentially put out something and mislead while Barak Obama has kept millions from truly getting the final truth whatever it may be about his past records is mind boggling. It also may play a part in the discussion someday about identifying the AC should it actually be JS. Many it seems just cannot follow a thread of news or Bible understanding far enough to find the possible truth.
