Part 1 “Can God send hurricanes or tornado’s?”

Comment by Wickus:

This is a series on Facebook by John Muncy about natural disasters and God’s judgment. I will post it here as it becomes available. I have heard about John Muncy a few months ago and I have found him to be a man who loves the Lord and the truth of the Word. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

PART #1 CAN GOD SEND HURRICANES OR TORNADOES?

Yes, if you believe the Bible. There are many clear examples of this in the Scriptures teaching this fact. (SPECIAL NOTE: Not all hurricanes/tornadoes are sent from God! Some have their origin from God, some from Satan, and some from the nature process of warm air and cold air mixing to form fast whirling winds.) However, in this series, I’d like to show how God DOES send “natural disasters” as a form of judgment on people. Anyone with a causal reading of the Bible will remember the devastation brought upon the world during the flood in Noah’s day, or the wiping out of the land of Egypt during the time of Moses, or the drought during the ministry of Elijah, or even the fruit tree that dried up and died as the result of the Lord Jesus pronouncing a curse upon it. Our God has control of this physical world. He is able to do whatever He desires with this planet. Let’s look at one form of that, since we are coming into the “hurricane season”. Could some hurricanes be “of the Lord” as a form of punishment to a wicked nation?

In Jeremiah 23:19-20, the weeping prophets declared to the nation of Israel, “Behold, a whirlwind OF THE LORD IS GONE FORTH IN FURY, even A GRIEVOUS WHIRLWIND: it shall fall grievously upon the head of the wicked.” (Notice its association with the “wicked”.) Then again Jeremiah refers to the “wicked” being hit with a whirlwind as being “of the Lord” and it being an act of God’s “fury” when he says, “Behold, THE WHIRLWIND OF THE LORD goeth forth with fury, a continuing whirlwind: it shall fall with pain upon the head of the wicked.” (Jer. 30:23) And once again Jeremiah refers to this type of judgment hitting nations, “Thus saith the LORD of hosts, Behold, evil shall go forth from nation to nation, and A GREAT WHIRLWIND SHALL BE RAISED UP FROM THE COASTS OF THE EARTH. (Jer. 25:32)

Our loving, merciful, forgiving and longsuffering God is also a God of judgment and wrath. No one who will be honest with the Word of God can deny that He does this. Read how the prophet Nahum put it, “The Lord is slow to anger, and great in power, and will not at all acquit the wicked: THE LORD HATH HIS WAY IN THE WHIRLWIND AND IN THE STORM…” (see Nahum 1:3-9) As this passage clearly states, the Lord will have His way sometimes by whirlwinds and storms so the wicked are not acquitted – or able to go free.

Americans could use a foundational lesson on the “fear of God” today, yet today it is scoffed from most pulpits. We Americans have conveniently produced a “god in our own image”, a god who only blesses and never judges, a weak old man who is tired, silent and uninvolved.

Here would be a good verse to once again preach on any Sunday morning, though I doubt very few have the courage to expound on its terrifying truths…Psalms 50:21-22, “These things hast thou done, and I kept silence; thou thoughtest that I was altogether such an one as thyself: but I will reprove thee, and set them in order before thine eyes. NOW CONSIDER THIS, YE THAT FORGET GOD, LEST I TEAR YOU IN PIECES, AND THERE BE NONE TO DELIVER.”

Sounds pretty hard-core to me! Maybe if God said this, we need to believe it…and maybe we should act accordingly to it…and maybe consider it as we see our Nation getting hit pretty hard with record breaking, back to back disasters!

LET’S STOP TRYING TO “DEFANG” OR “DECLAW” THE LION OF THE TRIBE OF JUDAH!

We will continue this series…so stay tuned. I’m convinced that the next few months you and I will see why this topic is so important to think about…sever judgment is coming upon our land…and God’s Word has the answer and the hope we can turn to!!!!!!! Love you all. -John

  1. Of course God controls every drop of rain that falls and the direction of every wind that blows…my sister’s house was once destroyed by lighting (started a fire in the attic), then she was reading the Bible and came across the passage that says God controls the lightening bolts! As Charles Spurgeon said (paraphrased) “every molecule of dust floats in the orbit in which God ordained”….yes, He controls everything, including the devil who is on a firm leash and must beg permission from the Most High before he can make his next move! As Martin Luther said “even the devil is God’s devil”. To think that God does not control everything is a terrifying thought as He would no longer be Sovereign! Yes, oh yes, He rules over IT ALL, He is The Most High, there is no other besides HIM!!

  2. Totally agree, Pilgrim. Even our enemies/anti-christ spirit people we have to put up with are to cause us to remove the sin in our own lives.

    Psalm 41:11
By this I know that thou favourest me, because mine enemy doth not triumph over me.

  3. Luk 21:25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;
Luk 21:26 Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.

I do not think I can add a single jot to that one.

  4. My wife and I were talking about this yesterday. I think too many mistake God’s patient mercy for condoning sin. He does not – He is the same Lord that comes back seated on a white horse, wearing a ROBE DIPPED IN BLOOD. I don’t know many things that sound more fierce. I heard my own pastor do an exposition on that passage and his claim was the the robe dipped in blood was not a little bit of the hem, but the WHOLE THING. His point was like if someone were going to get in a fight, they might take off their coat so they don’t get the other guys blood on it – but the Lord sorts that out by just dipping the the whole thing in blood, that way it won’t matter what it gets on it.

Is God sending natural disasters on this world – yes, he said he would. I see it as mercy since there is a day when the unrepentent will beg for the mountains to fall on them, and will seek death. If it gets one persons attention, and convinces one more soul to repent and turn to Christ it was worth it (of course only he knows that outcome).

  6. God definitely has the final say on the natural events happening BUT when the governments play around with things like Geo Engineering ,Chemtrails, HAARP and other things like cloud seeding then Whatever happens as a result of that.
If we want to play around with Nature we get what it throws back at us. God will let it happen and nothing we can do.
Scary part is Morgellon’s disease, Nanotechnology growing out of peoples skin? As the result of Chemtrails? We are over stepping the line now as a society.
Check out some videos about morgellon’s at this site i read now and again,

This is the future we all have to look forward too…..
Please Jesus come back soon 🙂
