The Storm After the Earthquake: Washington’s Apocalypse This Time

By STEVEN GRAY / WASHINGTON Friday, Aug. 26, 2011

For a while, it seemed that many here had visions of the 2007 movie Evan Almighty, in which a massive ark filled with zebras and wolves slams into the U.S. Capitol.

Gizaete Daget, a cab driver, tried to strike an upbeat tone, saying of Irene: “It’s just going to lose strength.”
Nevertheless, even in the marbled capital of the mighty United States of America, nothing quite puts fear in man as much as an act of God — especially if you think you can see it coming.

Comment by Adamantine:

Yeah who believes it would really be an act of God ?

It is weakening. We may be thankful of that. What and how God works is inscrutable. We only know the broad strokes of prophecy from what the Bible teaches so to try to be sure on anything else is wrong. Who speaks of the bird flu anymore? Yet we do know that if a nation continues to veer away from God eventually it has consequences in how God deals with that nation. The US has long ago gone past playing with fire. It now starts fires.

  1. It has weakened – THIS TIME – but the time will come when it will not.

imho these are harbingers of things to come – God’s attempt to get the attention of man to turn from evil and seek Him. Will man indeed turn and embrace our LORD – from what I read in scripture the answer is NO.

“I have given her time to repent of her immorality, but she is unwilling.” Revelation 2

Strong words spoken about Israel, but applicable to America as well; for to whom much is given, much shall be required.

  2. The NC coastline was hit pretty hard and still going. Tornado on Virginia Beach, 5 dead confirmed. God help those to deal with this and the aftermath, it is going to be really difficult for many.

  3. It so saddens my heart during this, that not one governor or leader or agency head, asked for prayers for the people on the east coast. If any of them did, I never heard it. Did any of you hear them ask the country to pray? I am so, so, so sad to see this. I asked all my friends to pray for North Carolina and the east coast. Lord we know that you have been merciful, even though there is loss of life and to those who lost a loved one, I am sure it did not seem like enough mercy.
