Does Drought mean anything Spiritually ?

Comment by Adamantine:

I have no way of knowing the spiritual temperature of Texas but I do know that it is their responsibility to evaluate their relationship to God in Jesus.

  1. My humble opinion….sometimes things are not as they appear. God allows things and it is not always because of sin or lack of prayer. This could be a manmade occurrence. The US is capable of weather manipulation and so is China and Russia (HAARP). It may be deeper spiritually than we may realize. This may be a heavenly battle that is manifesting itself here and other places in the world. Pray for Texas and for all the people who have suffered in the US by floods and earthquakes, sinkholes, and lack of rain. Our country is in a mess agriculturally, financially, economically, spiritually. We need God and we need to be on our knees humbling ourselves before Him.

I am a Texan and I don’t think just because of my being a resident here lumps me in with the atheists, satanists and unbelievers here in this state. Sin does not belong to a particular state. There are a lot of Christians here, too, and we do pray and read the Bible. Yes, we are all sinners and we all need to repent for our sins, and so does all of America for all of its great sins.

Have mercy on us, our Precious Lord.

I do not know Texas and that is why I left it as a question.
I will say this about my own community however. I know my own community better. If avoiding judgment depends on holiness we are not. I suspect we are among the 95 % of Americans that fornicate before marriage. I think our divorce, adultery and abortion rate is also about the 50% national average.Lastly very few gather to pray and ask God;s forgiveness. Hence I do expect to someday to see judgment on my area. I expect everyone later will talk about how we are such a good community of Christians when we all gather together to help each other fix the mess. I think the churches will miss totally God’s warning that even greater destruction is coming if there is no repentance.
I believe that there is not a one of us that does not deserve chastisement greater than we receive but that as we repent and pray we avoid much. God has His way in the whirlwind and as such Texas will get whatever it deserves even as my community does.
So far I have not heard anyone say any community ever got what God brought in judgment upon it. From such one would believe that there is no such thing as a Sodom which did not repent and no such thing as a Nineveh which did repent.
I am apparently in disagreement with modern Christians who so far have yet to say anyone deserves judgment. Well my community deserves a spanking and I keep praying for mercy and I think it matter that I pray. If the small number who do so cease I would expect disaster.
I think I keep getting in trouble with people because I think the Churches are nearing judgment because of a a culmination of centuries of failing to root out Easter and the bunny rabbit or Halloween. I think the world is ripe for judgment when 90 % of women are murderers on average by age 40!!!!! The men are serial fornicators. Homosexuality is being promoted. Homosexuality is an abomination and the best we can say is that ” marriage is between one man and one women”. Not one presidential candidate dares say homosexuality is evil and that they are are chancing hellfire with every day they persist and do not repent.
People are treating virginity before marriage as a small thing. There is a growing infertility problem in the land and unless one can say they arrived at a mutual monogamous marriage they have no right to expect God’s blessing for children. Of course God hears repentance but He makes a distinction between the righteous and the unrighteous and it will be seen somewhere. Autism is on the increase and is related to the older age of the parents. Far too often the parents are older because they had no need to marry young as virgins but rather satisfied themselves sexually outside of marriage and finally married when they turned 35 found God and now expected blessings. Children are a gift form God. The sun may shine on the good and the bad alike but some blessings he bestows on His children. Someday the world will howl when they see the small people of the earth who lived by God’s standards (with failure but repentance) inherit the whole earth!! while they get nothing. Then Heaven awaits His children as well.
My community is a city of destruction even as Pilgrims Progress speaks of. It is destined for destruction as few are on the narrow path to the heavenly city. I have missed some blessings because of sin and received other blessings for obedience. I am not speaking to any one person on this site so it is for you to decide if a lack of blessing was related to sin or not. The Bible shows that some suffering is for God’s glory, some for our growth and some because of our righteousness. Job is an example We do not see well enough to say so in the particular and may only partially evaluate even our own lives. The heart of man is deceitful above all else. The bible also makes it clear God He will not hold the wicked guiltless.

  3. 1Pe 4:7 But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.
1Pe 4:8 And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.
1Pe 4:9 Use hospitality one to another without grudging.
1Pe 4:10 As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
1Pe 4:11 If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
1Pe 4:12 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:
1Pe 4:13 But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.
1Pe 4:14 If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.
1Pe 4:15 But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men’s matters.
1Pe 4:16 Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.
1Pe 4:17 For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?
1Pe 4:18 And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?
1Pe 4:19 Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.

I think that we will be judged as the church, along with the rest of the world, final judgement of course being after Jesus and the resurrection, catching up of the ones who are left alive, the outpouring of the wrath of God.

Things will get worse on this earth, we have been told that in the written word of God, which is what we have to go by.

  4. I live in Texas, it is hot and dry. Went for a walk a couple of days ago and was stunned by how brown my neighborhood is. I agree with Helen, Texas is wicked but so is California, New York, Illinois etc. The drought is not because we are more wicked….and the floods in the Midwest are not because they are more wicked than states who aren’t flooded. While natural disasters can be a form of judgment from God,I think we have to be careful when we start psychoanalyzing such matters, the truth is, the entire globe is experiencing unnatural weather anomalies and the entire world is ripe for judgment (Texas included).

  5. I don’t know that I’m using the right terminology for certain – but i don’t think God’s judgement is always intended to destroy that which is being judged. As Nineveh turned to repentance, and others God relented.

I also don’t think that just becuase a person/place/city/state is first to experience judgement that it implies it is worse than the others. As with Israel, they were judged first when God used Babylon against them – even though God knew he was going to destroy Babylon at a later date.

I’m not suggesting Texas is innocent, nor am I suggesting wickedness has flourished there in the level it has in California, New York and my own home state of Illinois. To tell about the trending of a group of people – look at the leaders they popularly select to lead them. Texas has Christian men like Rick Perry who calls the people to repentance and prayer. My own state has now 2 former governors in jail for corruption, and has produced a Senator that rose to the presidency and now promotes Islam over the Bible, homosexuality over God’s ordained relationships, and unfettered debt over prudence and thrift. When judgement falls on places where wickedness is the norm it will be far worse than the drought in Texas.

  6. ‘Hardening (Heb. 3:13; Eph 4:18 ; I Tim 4:2) is the process whereby one ceases to have a conscience about evil that one is doing, or attitudes of pride, godlessness, lovelessness, brutality; hatred, contempt, or whatever that one is indulging. Habit produces hardening, and hardening, insofar as it destroys the sense of sin, rules out the possibility of repentance.
We need to realize that sin works restlessly within us to produce its horrific effects all the time, and that only divine grace can overcome it. The psalmists prayed for knowledge of their sin through grace so that they might forsake it through grace. Ps 139:23; Ps 19:12-14; Ps 119:29’ quoted from ‘God’s Words’ by J I Packer Pg 82. 1981

The above comes from the chapter titled ‘Sin’.

  7. Hi Linda 🙂

    Pleased to meet you.

Powerful quote.” Habit produces hardening, and hardening, insofar as it destroys the sense of sin, rules out the possibility of repentance.”

I txtd the Heb 3:13 verse to a pastors wife the other day, I don’t think she is too happy with me right now as she hides behind the religious robe she wears. How sad is that!

Ps Linda do you live in Texas?

    Love in Christ , Colleen

  9. All these things happening all over the world in one way or another. I think our Father is allowing of course to wake people up to the fact that there is no real security here on this earth. Believers need to be refined, myself included here so that we the witnesses needed in these endtimes. I think this is what Peter meant about judgement beginning in the house of God. This is my thinking, not sure if anyone else thinks this or ever did.

Thanks for all that you share here, it is encouragement in these days for sure.

  10. Thank you for your comments. I agree with Jesus, “No one is good, no not one.” Not one person in the world is worthy to stand before an Almighty God, who is holy. The only way we can approach Him in his holiness is through the blood of the lamb of God who died for our deceitful hearts. If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves.

Therefore, we must come to Jesus moment by moment, asking Him to keep washing us with the water of the Word and fill us with His Holy Spirit. ‘Thy word have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against thee.’ Ps 119:11

Those who belong to Him will either be protected or martyred as the great tribulation draws near. We will either enter “an ark” built by God or lose our head and be in His presence. Either way, we will be safe in Jesus if we are His. Have you been chosen by God? You will know He is in your heart as He will live there and teach you and instruct you how to live in this godless world.and serve Him. He is preparing us for His kingdom. The trials and tribulations are nothing compared to the wonders of being with Jesus. Look up; for your redemption draweth nigh said Jesus.

If we are His, love will fill your heart and you will be praying for those around you that they may not go to hell. Your heart will be breaking for family members that don’t know Jesus.

Sorry, this is so long, but sometimes you have to speak what is in your heart. I hold no malice toward anyone. May God forgive my sins, which are many.
