What is so wrong with Globalization or Global governance?

Daniel Innerarity and Javier Solana met in humanity threatened a series of reflections on the dangers of progress today

The belief in human progress is already part of our archaeological heritage. No one sees the emergence of one world, a common homeland for all of us, good news. From the moment he invented the idea of progress, is often taken for good a date from the eighteenth century, it was assumed that as beneficial and liberating process affect us all, eventually. Parents of liberalism gave a good push, but the theory of socialism developed and built a powerful, a true historical epic. It has inspired many and caused untold sacrifices and heroism. The sarcasm reactionaries who dismiss this story as if it had been condemned to end up in the hands of fanatics, in extermination and pain of so many people deserve only contempt.

One thing is to reject the anti-progressive and widespread catastrophism, and another to ignore the real threats

But it is true that an essential part of that collapse was due to the unexpected path to that dream would lead the simplistic faith in progress.Progress which globalization-that is, the spread of civilization was an essential component. As we begin to perceive that progress was merely a modernization-approach of traditional societies or even to the world called primitive, advanced and it was not easy nor unilinear began to think it was more realistic to talk in the plural retrofits. We soon realized that it also served, began to define countries as “developing”, ie back (euphemistically “underdeveloped”), no one knew whether they were or not to develop, ie democratic and economically upgraded. The false talk invaded the vocabulary, including, alas, that of some who wanted social scientists. Along with much pollution conceptual, began to accumulate disasters of all kinds: demographic, military, ideological, health, terrorists, in addition to the perverse effects that the spread of globalization brought with it, such as destroying the environment.

What had been the monopoly of disenchanted progressive, ready to denounce the disappointments of progress, and infinite delight of conservatives, with their sing-song “and I told you so” – was transformed into a school of thought that has already passed more than the old literature on the alleged “Western decadence” and the impending “revolt of the masses.” Neither one nor the other has occurred, unless, dear reader, we assume that the morally outraged demonstrations in our streets are a sure sign of both episodes.

The literary industry of the disaster-of the “risk society”, the general collapse of civility, the inevitable perversion of all-coupled with the denunciation of globalization, is replaced with its prophetic accents, the more melancholy, but also reasoned augurs pessimistic earlier that at least stuck to bourgeois culture and liberal respected. Not so for now.Prefer not to lie to his confused, postmodern, relativistic and popular gurus, who are presented as if they were progressive in some sense, although neither created nor argues for progress.

Most of the time join their speculations to the notion of globalization, or as they say the English translators of globalization, since the risks are global. Sometimes irony and serenity are imposed, which does not prevent them from recognizing the seriousness of some of the damage of advanced globalization. Ernesto Garzón Valdés in his Calamities, outlined in his day Babelia, is an appointed representative of this remarkable approach. So is undoubtedly the book compiled Daniel Innerarity and Javier Solana on the governance of global risks that we face with and, no doubt, were frequent. (One thing is to reject, as I do above, anti-progressive and widespread doom and gloom, and another to ignore the real threats facing the human race precisely because of the way we upgraded us).

Those who have done some work on governance issues and governance are well aware that the globalization of problems is an essential part of them. They are inseparable.Innerarity and Solana, have long been concerned about these issues, or provided both significant experience or thoughts on the matter, have gathered in humanity threateneda series of reflections on diverse aspects of the dangers that lie ahead but the common denominator their ability to harm mankind, that is, to put an end to the process of progress. The most attractive of these trials, with one exception, composed of foreign authors, is precisely the degree of realism that usually inspires. Strain somewhere in the prophetic voice of universal cataclysm without Judgement, I fear, but the serenity prevails imposed if we want to govern and leave it as a wise and stoic forces us rational and democratic civilization to the we belong. The same undoubtedly conceived and made flourish noble faith in the progress of the human race.

What is so wrong with Globalization or Global governance?
Answer: The people who will run it are not people who love Jesus and they find this very answer incomprehensible.

  1. I wish someone would lock Mr Solana, and Mr Innerarity, in a room and play an animation over and over of the event at the Tower of Babel so they could see how God confounded the languages and scattered the people for good reason! I know, I know, they still wouldn’t get it.

Some people – JS and that other dope – just think that they have alllllllllll the answers!!!
