We need prophets

Comment by Adamantine:

I would think with all of the threats in this world it would be nice to have a few men or women who were prophets and could place before the world a word from God about His intentions or the intentions of the enemy. I think it reasonable that even we should ask. Who else might be asking?

  1. We know for certain that God has promised us two. If the hour is as late as we suspect then they should be appearing soon. I wonder if they are already here and reading things like this. Do we know if we’d recognize them on the day that they are called to begin their ministry?

  2. I agree with Justasheep that we should soon see the two witnesses. Am thinking they are yet to appear. Maybe after the UN recognition of a Palestinian state this fall … assuming that it is going to happen at that time. Seems likely that one of them will be Elijah. In earlier days the prophets of baal had a rather bad experience with Elijah on Mt Carmel. Am wondering if the two witnesses will visit Temple Mount and have a similar chat the mullah’s about the mosques they up there. Since they are mentioned in Rev 11:3 right after measuring the Temple in Rev 11:1-2, am also wondering if they perhaps oversee construction of the Third Temple depending on ones view whether the Temple is to be rebuilt or not. Would also imagine those two would chat with the Rabbi’s about Jesus. Lots of possibilties and questions concerning those two. It will be an eye opener to see what their actual ministry will be when they come…providing they aren’t already on the scene and we haven’t identified them as Justasheep suggests.

    Sorry I can’t post on the front page, but I don’t have internet access on my PC, just my phone. Maybe Adamantine can put this up?

  4. Prophets: something I have struggled with for a long time, grew up in SouthernBaptist which says all thiings were done with the written word of God. However, like I say has been a struggle as I learned other church doctrines out there. So first of all, one day I found this scripture in Deuteronomy about prophets, let me post it.

    Deu 13:1 If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee a sign or a wonder,
    Deu 13:2 And the sign or the wonder come to pass, whereof he spake unto thee, saying, Let us go after other gods, which thou hast not known, and let us serve them;
    Deu 13:3 Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the LORD your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.
    Deu 13:4 Ye shall walk after the LORD your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto him.
    Deu 13:5 And that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams, shall be put to death; because he hath spoken to turn you away from the LORD your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed you out of the house of bondage, to thrust thee out of the way which the LORD thy God commanded thee to walk in. So shalt thou put the evil away from the midst of thee.
    Deu 13:6 If thy brother, the son of thy mother, or thy son, or thy daughter, or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend, which is as thine own soul, entice thee secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which thou hast not known, thou, nor thy fathers;
    Deu 13:7 Namely, of the gods of the people which are round about you, nigh unto thee, or far off from thee, from the one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth;
    Deu 13:8 Thou shalt not consent unto him, nor hearken unto him; neither shall thine eye pity him, neither shalt thou spare, neither shalt thou conceal him:
    Deu 13:9 But thou shalt surely kill him; thine hand shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people.

    Now I tell you guys, have read the bible for years but this one really made me sit up, and really take notice.

    Thanks Wickus for the EU Ashton link there

  5. Where sin abounds His grace aboundeth that much more. Everything we need to know is sufficient by the workings of the Holy Spirit through the prophets of past. Until the two witnesses arrive anyway.

    Personally, and this is just myself speaking, I don’t call out to God to provide modern day prophets. I pray for eyes to see and ears to hear truth.

    Que sera sera,
    What ever will be, will be,
    The future’s not ours to see,
    Que sera sera

    But it is awfully fun to keep watch, sort through the world events unfolding and long to see the Lord’s Second Coming! Keep the clues coming sweet Lord, and thank you for the yearning to see you coming in the clouds! Oh yaaaaaaaaaa!!

    I was just caught off by your comment. How do you find it , “fun”. I don’t find this too much fun and I am hoping you can shed some light of your experience thus far. And the clouds, how do you fit that place, just wondering what you are experiencing.

  7. Comment by Adamantine:
    I used to find it fun as well. Currently it is somewhat stressful because if events back even further away from what once seemed reasonable in the theories of Herb Peters then I will feel a little left out in the wind to dry so to speak. I will not blame others but will feel a bit like a bride left at the altar. ( I disagree with those who say one should not mix metaphors). The time since July 2009 when to the casual eye the theory started to unravel has not been an easy time for me as a watcher. This may be part of the reason we are admonished to have patience. If the theory fully dies I will struggle as to why God would let me view events so incorrectly. He IS arriving someday and He will be the bridegroom but ……it appeared for awhile that the event was to be sooner than maybe it will yet prove to be.
