The circle of armies around Jerusalem draws tighter
Today’s headline has an unspecified number of US troops moving into Jordan to support the influx of refugees and reinforce the Jordanian military as the skirmishes increase between Syrian and Jordanian troops along the border.
What is not mentioned is the disposition of Syrian rebels to the Hashemite regime in Jordan. I think as much a hedge against the Syrian military, it is even more an effort to prop up a regime that is also teetering on the brink of collapse to the Islamists. Why else locate US troops in Jordan specifically when there are hundreds of miles of direct border between Iraq and Syria where US troops could establish a presence in the area?
The noose it tightening – and it appears that in a very short time, Jerusalem could be tightly encircled by armies.
